DESIGN ARCHIVE:
SONY: BRAVIA
This project is geared towards finding ways to visually differentiate between the four categories of TV available from Sony (LCD, 3D, Family and SITV). Above are some early concepts.
SAFARI: QR CODE EXPERIMENT
To help promote Safari I have produced a series of posters and business cards that utilise QR codes.
It enables smartphone owners to scan the code, which will then direct them to the desired online location. The Safari code is programed to direct the user to the band facebook profile where users can click 'like' if they wish.
MATTY MOON: STATIONERY
Here's a sneak peek at Matty Moon's new business cards. The cards are to accompany his new website that I've been working on.
MY MARY POPPINS: IDENTITY & WEBSITE DESIGN
My Mary Poppins is a new nanny agency that operates in the UK, they specialise in temporary nannies for home or for on holiday.
Firstly the brand wanted to emphasis the fact that they were launching two new websites; one for holiday nannies, and one for temporary/home nannies. The idea was to create an identity that played on the ideas and images that Mary Poppins suggests while being relevant to the two types of nanny that are available. The first website is now live.
TYPEFACE DESIGN
This is a new typeface that I've been working on. It features my favorite aspects of other typefaces, fused with the idea of removing unnecessary characteristics. I will hopefully be releasing it for download soon.
REUSABLE 2011 CALENDAR
Every year I get given a calendar for Christmas. At the end of the year I put it in the bin. This seems really wasteful, so I decided to create one that reduces the need to be thrown away.
The calendar displays all the years from 2011 to the end of this century that will start on the same week day (excluding leap years). The purpose for this is so the calendar can be reused. The reuse years are displayed on the calendar itself. Email me if you would like one: flynnjonny@googlemail.com
SAFARI: 2011 REFRESH
New logo and promotion for Safari as a freshen up for 2011.
I've also been working on some new artwork for the next Safari single which is due for release in March.
CAMDENBOSS: CATALOGUE DESIGN
This project is one of the largest that I have ever taken on. It consists mainly of two catalogues.
One big success within this project was managing to cut over 400 pages down to around 300. This was important to me as I could see there was a lot of waste involved in their previous catalogues.
The first print run of 2000 copies has just been received, all with a spot varnish to enhance the black type on the covers.
FOALS: TOUR POSTER COMPETITION
The band Foals launched a competition to design a UK tour poster. I have always liked what Foals are about and couldn't resist submitting my own.
MATTY MOON: WEB DESIGN
I am currently working on a new website for music producer Matty Moon. Matt wanted a site that made it easy show people his work. (Currently in development)
100: INFORMATION GRAPHIC
100 is a typographic piece that investigates how the value of 100 can differ depending on your global location.
The project is a B1 fold out with bellyband. It is designed to accompany an economic publication, be informative, while visually interesting.
The value of each currency is depicted in scale using 100 pence as a basic measurement.
MATTY MOON: IDENTITY
Matt was looking for help creating a new identity to help promote himself as a freelance music producer. He was looking for something clean and simple, that he could use as a logo.
SKIN: EXHIBITION CATALOGUE
A catalogue for an exhibition called Skin which was held at the Wellcome Collection. Each page has an extra transparent layer (it's skin) that protects it.
SKIN: TUBE POSTER & INSTALLATION
A poster I designed for the Skin exhibition held at the Wellcome Collection. This part of the campaign was geared towards Londoners waiting for the tube by using statistics that they can relate to.
I also worked on a second version that would be installed at the exhibition. This application plays on the idea of shedding cells by having each letter laser cut from the poster.
SAFARI: WEB DESIGN
I have recently reworked the website that I run for Safari. The aim was to create something minimal that was easy to navigate with a large emphasis on the blog content (Click the image to view the live site).
FEDRIGONI: EVENT PROMOTION
This project revolved around attracting new customers into Fedrigoni's London showroom, especially targeting creatives.
I decided to work on the Idea of a party where design companies could hold team-building events. The party would feature a series of paper based games that promotes both group interaction as well as the range of paper Fedrigoni has to offer.
ACTUALITY: IDENTITY
Actuality is an ongoing information project set up by myself in 2010. The objective behind Actuality is to bring information to life by finding interesting and beautiful ways of sharing it.
Actuality consists of work produced by a hand picked selection of creative designers and illustrators. If you would like to participate in this project, then please contact me for more details: flynnjonny@googlemail.com
SAFARI: DEBUT SINGLE RELEASE
The first release from Safari is on the way. He's a peek at the new artwork.
BLOG ARCHIVE:
THE UNIVERSAL SIGH
I went along to Rough Trade east for the Release of The Universal Sigh. Standing in a queue for an hour isn't usually my ideal way to spend lunch, but it was well worth it in the end when I received my copy from Thom Yorke dressed as a paper boy.
ROAD TRIP: YORK, GLASGOW & EDINBURGH
Had a long weekend visiting some cool cities and playing some gigs up north with the boys. Edinburgh is definitely one of my favorite cities along with Barcalona and Berlin. There's some impressive architecture and lots of historic locations to see. My highlight was Edinburgh castle which sits on top of a huge vantage point with fantastic views. Sim took some great photos click here to see them.
HUGO & CAT: BAKE OFF
Today we had a bake off at work where we all brought something in. I made a Victoria sponge, and decorated it with a red '&' from the company logo.
GLUG: THINGS TO MAKE & DO
Spent thursday night in Shoreditch at Glug, which was a really cool event. They have different creative speakers each time, who get a chance to talk about what they do. Unfortunately I managed to miss most of the speakers due to the bbq and bar. But I did meet a load of new people, and get a loverly screen print.
JUNIOR DESIGNER AT HUGO & CAT
1st February 2011 marks the start of my new position as Junior Graphic Desginer at Hugo & Cat in London.
AMAZING WEEKEND IN BERLIN
I love Berlin. It's such a great city, everyone there is so nice considering the only German i know is "Das ist wunderbar".
The reason for the trip was to play a gig being promoted by an old friend. The show was at Magnet Club with I Heart Sharks and another band called Children. The venue was sold out and both bands we incredible.

LES DEUX ALPES
The 4am start to New Years Day was not something I was looking forward to, but another great week in the Alps made it all worth it.
RESEARCH STUDIOS VISIT
This week I was at Research Studios in London, sat opposite Neville Broady, with my portfolio on the table.
To anyone who doesn't know who Neville Broady is, he's essentially one of the most influential graphic designers of the last three decades. He's kind of a big deal.
It was great to get the chance to meet with someone as highly respected as Neville. We discussed and talked through my work, as well as touching on some of his own thoughts about design and the industry in general.
VAL THORENS, LES 3 VALLEES
While everyone in the UK wets themselves over a few centimeters of snow, I visited Val Thorens in France for a week of snowboarding and Apres ski. I also took this opportunity to experiment with my new GoPro HD Hero photo/video camera.
Above is a video my friend Tom put together using some shots we got from my GoPro and his SLR.
APROPOS VISIT
I recently met with Gareth Wild who runs a design studio called Apropos. Gareth has a wealth of design knowledge, and told me about his experiences working in organisations like Research Studios. I also showed him some of my own work and discussed my plans for the near future. He gave me some really good advice and I got a great insight into what it's like to successfully run your own studio.
ARCADE FIRE AT THE O2 ARENA
Tonight I'm seeing Arcade Fire at the O2 and I'm super excited for it. I've never seen them live before despite wanting to for a long time, so to say I'm excited would be an understatement.
WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD
18 years of education finally came to an end this week. This man was there to seal the deal with a handshake and a few words of wisdom.
LAGO DI GARDA
This summer I got the opportunity to go to Lake Garda in Italy, it's an amazing place to visit with a lot to offer. We stayed in a town called Malcesine right next the lake.
I also developed an obsession with maps. I bought three while in Garda, none of which I used. I just love the level of detail and complexity involved.
THE CREAM OF 2010
I was extremely honored to be awarded Cream of the 2010 status at this years degree show. I was given this nice little mask thing which was designed and made by previous students from the uni.
FLAINE, GRAND MASSIF
Some photographs I took from my visit to the French ski resort of Flaine. Had a fantastic weeks boarding with great conditions.
I always come home with a lack of photos from the actual slopes because I don't trust myself to not break my SLR while snowboarding.
